Garfield County Public Health

Who We Are

Public Health monitors the health of the residents and communities of Garfield County.  We work closely with the Colorado Dept. of Public Health and Environment. We monitor communicable diseases, air and water quality, access to needed services within the county, and health care policy. We assess the community to identify and address unmet needs and work with other community resources to meet the needs of its people.

We provide immunizations for all ages, support for pregnant women, and administer the WIC program (Women, Infants, and Children.)  We provide education and follow-up for all reportable diseases.  Our Environmental Health staff monitor air quality and work to ensure safe food and water.  Prevention is the focus for many public health activities.

What We Do

Our staff consists of registered nurses, environmental health specialists, and a registered dietician. Other staff include WIC educators and outreach workers.
