High Country RSVP

RSVP is meeting critical community needs in the focus areas of Education, Environmental Stewardship, Healthy Futures, Disaster Services, Economic Opportunity and Veteran’s Services.

RSVP also seeks to meet critical needs for seniors, the disabled and low income individuals through the four FREE programs we manage from our office: Medicare Counseling, Tax Preparation and Filing, Helping Hands for Seniors and AARP Driver Safety Classes for 50+. (RSVP does criminal background checks on volunteers for our Medicare, Tax and Handyman programs ensuring protection for all parties.)

RSVP volunteers choose what volunteer opportunity they are interested in and that fits their lifestyle whether a one-time event, once a week or once a month!

What We Do at High Country RSVP

High Country RSVP is a national service program and one of three Senior Corps programs under the Corporation for National and Community Service whose mission it is to improve lives, strengthen communities and foster civic engagement through service and volunteering. Funding for CNCS is appropriated by congress and the CEO is appointed by the United States President.

High Country RSVP started in 1973 in an office in the basement of the Hotel Colorado by some very active and community minded seniors whose donations of land helped start Colorado Mountain College (CMC) and Valley View Hospital. Lucy Huntley, Paul and Ginny Lappala, Jim and Esther Kinnier, Otis and Lillie Jarrod, Owen and Margaret Boulton are some of the seniors in our valley who gave their time and resources back to their community.
