Junior Achievement of the Roaring Fork Valley

Who We Are

Junior Achievement: Empowering young people to own their economic success®

Junior Achievement is a non-profit youth organization that matches community volunteers with LOCAL classroom teachers.

Junior Achievement’s hands-on, experiential programs teach the key concepts of WORK READINESS, ENTREPRENEURSHIP, and FINANCIAL LITERACY to students throughout the Roaring Fork Valley.  Volunteers share their workforce experience with students, while teaching sound economic principles and reinforcing the class curricula.

Junior Achievement provides all program materials, training, and on-going support in the successful delivery of all Junior Achievement programs, K-12.

JA of the Roaring Fork Valley serves schools in Glenwood Springs, Carbondale, Basalt, Aspen, New Castle, Silt, Rifle & Parachute

What We Do

  •     Classroom teachers request a Junior Achievement program from the local JA office.
  •     A community volunteer is assigned to the teacher’s classroom.
  •     Contact is made between the volunteer and the teacher to set up a classroom schedule.
  •     The specific schedule is arranged directly between the classroom teacher and volunteer for convenience.
  •      Each Junior Achievement ELEMENTARY SCHOOL program consists of five lessons, usually presented once per week.  Lessons are 30 minutes (K, 1, 2) or 45 minutes (3, 4, 5).
  •      MIDDLE SCHOOL programs consist of six lessons, and HIGH SCHOOL is between five and nine lessons per program.  Each lesson lasts approximately 45 minutes.
  •     The Junior Achievement volunteer comes fully prepared to present the JA lesson and has a complete kit of materials.
  •     The teacher stays in the classroom during the entire JA program and is responsible for classroom management.
