CASA of the Ninth

Who We Are CASA of the Ninth

Court Appointed Special Advocates are citizen-volunteers who advocate for the needs of abused and neglected in children who are involved in Dependency and Neglect court proceedings.  Volunteers get to know the children and their caregivers and report directly to judge.  Volunteers work with professionals in the child welfare and court systems to make a difference in the lives of these children.  Volunteers must have good writing skills, good computer skills, patience, an interest in working with children and be willing to commit to a case for up to 18 months.

What We Do

CASA Volunteers make a difference in the lives of abused and neglected children by ensuring they receive needed services, and permanent, safe homes.  Children with CASA volunteers have improved outcomes in education, permanency, service provision, spend less time in foster care and are more likely to have a “consistent, responsible adult presence” compared with children without a CASA volunteer.  To read more about CASA effectiveness, check out the National CASA website.
