Family Resource Center of the Roaring Fork School District

Who We Are at the Family Resource Center

We connect families, schools and communities to improve student health, well-being and academic achievement. We do this through our three programs:

  1. Student Health and Well-Being

This program connects students who are having difficulty in school due to health, family or social problems, with community resources. We provide case management, translation, transportation and financial assistance for needs, including:

  • Food, clothing, rent and utilities
  • Physicians, dentists, eye care and mental health services
  • Tutoring, recreational and enrichment activities
  • Parenting classes, child care and after school activities
  • Family self-sufficiency and goal setting
  1. Parent Education

Nurturing Parenting Program, An evidenced based program proven to reduce instances of child abuse and neglect.  The program enhances empathy, self-worth, empowerment and discipline, while parents and children grow closer as a family.

Parenting with Love and Logic, A research-based program that teaches parents techniques to help them experience less stress and have more fun while raising responsible children.

Cooking Matters, An evidence-based program that teaches participants to select nutritious low-cost ingredients and to cook them in healthful ways.

  1. Health Promotion

We work with schools to provide health education resources to students, classes, teachers and parents. We advocate for youth and family issues in the community, particularly around gaps in and funding for health care services.

What We Do

The Family Resource Center of the Roaring Fork School District is a school-based center.  We have a bilingual staff member in each of our three offices in the three Roaring Fork School District attendance centers, Glenwood Springs, Carbondale and Basalt.
