In 2017, United Way Battlement to the Bells became part of the Volunteers in Service to America Family. VISTA was founded in 1965 as a national service program to fight poverty in America. In 1993, VISTA was incorporated into the AmeriCorps network of programs. Locally, we welcomed 13 skilled VISTA volunteers, fondly known as VISTAs, for assignment to eligible non-profit and other organizations. Each volunteer works to expand organizational capacity through program expansion, volunteer recruitment, marketing and website development, and fundraising. We have partnered with several nonprofits which include: CASA of the Ninth, Youthzone, West Mountain Regional Health Alliance, Alpine Legal Services, Family Visitor Programs, Highwater Farm, Literacy Outreach, LIFT-UP, Habitat for Humanity, Colorado Mountain College, and Garco Design Works, Arc of the Central Mountains, Smiling Goat Ranch.
